George BAKER (1827-1900)

George Frederick BAKER, son of Andrew Wright BAKER (1794-1830) and Elizabeth Weekes FITCH (1792-1845), was born in 1827 in Walmer, Kent, England. He was christened on 25 March 1827 in Walmer.1 He was an Upholsterer, Auctioneer, Publican, Commercial Traveller. He married Sarah Wilkinson EPSLEY on 8 July 1848 in Deal, Kent, England.2 In 1851 he lived in Deal.3 He emigrated from Deal to Sydney, New South Wales on 3 April 1854. In 1861 he lived in Sydney.4 In 1863 he lived in Strawberry Hills, New South Wales.4 In 1865 he lived in Strawberry Hills.4 In 1869 he lived in Strawberry Hills.4 In 1870 he lived in Sydney.4 Circa 1882 he lived in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. He married Mary MERRITT on 3 February 1886 in Sydney.2 In 1888 he lived in Ultimo, New South Wales.4 In 1889 he lived in Sydney.4 In 1890 he lived in Concord, New South Wales.4 He died of Syncope on 3 July 1900 in Concord.5

 

Sarah Wilkinson EPSLEY, daughter of George WILKINSON (c. 1790-1852) and Sarah Ann EPSLEY (1809-1898), was born in 1826 in Deal.1 She was christened on 15 May 1826 in Deal.1 In 1841 she lived in Deal. She died of Chronic Hepatitis on 18 March 1885 in Glebe, New South Wales.5 She and George Frederick BAKER had the following children:

 

Elizabeth Harriet BAKER (1849-1931). Elizabeth was born on 25 April 1849 in Deal.6 She married Henry William SWAN on 13 November 1873 in Strawberry Hills.2 In 1930 she lived in Marrickville, New South Wales.7 She died of Cerebral Haemorrhage on 28 August 1931 in Marrickville.5

Emma BAKER (1850-1930). Emma was born in July 1850 in Deal.6 She married William Frederick LOWE on 14 July 1877 in Sydney.2 She died of Acute Myocardial Degeneration, Senility on 13 August 1930 in Leichhardt, New South Wales.5

William Frederick BAKER (1852-1899). William was born in 1852 in Deal.6 He was a Railway Carriage Builder. He married Ellen Eliza Emily PAYNE on 17 August 1878 in Balmain, New South Wales.2 He died of Injuries received through throwing himself from a balcony while insane on 12 July 1899 in Sydney.5

Charles BAKER (1853-1920). Charles was born on 5 June 1853 in Deal.8 He was an Ironmonger. He married Frances Janet FRANKLIN on 24 January 1876 in Woolloomooloo, New South Wales.2 In 1879 he lived in Balmain.4 He married Isabella Sarah BOYLE on 24 September 1881 in Sydney.2 In 1883 he lived in Newtown, New South Wales.4 In 1884 he lived in Glebe.4 In 1894 he lived in Forest Lodge, New South Wales.4 In 1895 he lived in Annandale, New South Wales.4 In 1906 he lived in Stanmore, New South Wales.4 On 10 November 1911 he lived in Stanmore. In 1920 he lived in Manly, New South Wales. He died of Rheumatic Fibrositis, Cardiac Failure on 26 November 1920 in Manly.5

Laura Wilkinson BAKER (1856-1925). Laura was born on 24 December 1856 in St Leonards, New South Wales.8 She married John CHAPMAN on 14 April 1884 in Wagga Wagga.2 She died of Myocarditis, Heart Failure on 26 October 1925 in Moonee Ponds, Victoria.5

Arthur Wilkinson BAKER (1858-1918). Arthur was born on 25 May 1858 in Lavender Bay, New South Wales.8 He was a Wood Turner, Red Cross Toy Instructor. He married Sarah Ann TODD on 27 March 1880 in Sydney.6 He died of Paroxysmal Tachycardia on 5 September 1918 in Newtown.5

Juliet Wilkinson "JULIA" BAKER (1860-1944). Juliet was born on 12 August 1860 in Lavender Bay.9 She married Frederic Winchester GRANT on 8 September 1887 in Sydney.2 She died of Myocardial degeneration on 27 April 1944 in Marrickville.5

George Frederick BAKER (1862-1862). George was born on 22 November 1862 in Strawberry Hills.8 He died of Premature Birth on 6 December 1862 in Strawberry Hills.5

Ada Winifred Weekes "Madame Ada" BAKER (1866-1949). Ada was born on 11 December 1866 in Strawberry Hills.8 She was a Teacher of Singing. She married Charles Henry L'Estrange HALL on 23 April 1887 in Sydney.6 She died of Coronary Thormbosis on 24 July 1949 in Pymble, New South Wales.5

George Alfred BAKER (1868-1869). George was born on 11 December 1868 in Strawberry Hills.8 He died of Peritonitis on 13 February 1869 in Strawberry Hills.5

 

Mary MERRITT, daughter of Robert MERRITT ( -1846) and Sophia WILLIAMS (c. 1803-1877), was born circa 1831 in Gunnislake, Cornwall, England. She married John CLIFF on 15 November 1851 in Tavistock, Devon, England.2 She emigrated to Ballarat, Victoria in July 1855. In 1863 she lived in Stoney Creek, near Young, New South Wales. She married Richard ANGOVE on 6 February 1864 in Tambaroora, New South Wales.6 She died on 22 August 1908 in Ashfield, New South Wales.6
